PM Roosevelt Skerrit attends first-ever Afri- Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum in Barbados
Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica- Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, participated in the opening ceremony of the inaugural Afri- Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF 2022).
The Forum was launched for the first time in the Caribbean and is scheduled to be held from September 1- 3, 2022, in Bridgetown, Barbados. The theme of ACTIF 2022 was “One People. One Destiny. Uniting and Reimagining Our Future.”
Through his social media, PM Skerrit added, “This morning, I participated in the opening ceremony of the inaugural Afri-Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF2022), taking place from September 1 – 3, 2022, in Bridgetown, Barbados, under the theme ‘One People. One Destiny. Uniting and Reimagining Our Future.”
The Forum aims to strengthen relations among private sector entities in Africa and the Caribbean to advance trade and investment.
Barbados welcomed its first direct Ethiopian Airlines flights from Lagos, Nigeria, in order to host the first-ever Afri-Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ATIF 2022). The Forum was started on September 1, 2022, and will be concluded on September 3, 2022.
Further, Ethiopian Airlines has also offered a direct chartered return flight which will be departed from Barbados to Africa, with an aim to provide proper facilities to delegates who are planning to attend the Forum. The flight landed at Grantley Adams International Airport around 10: 30 am on Wednesday. It takes around 103 passengers, which includes conference delegates and more than 20 media personnel.
Reportedly, more than 1,000 people have been registered for the three-day conference. It is expected that officials will discuss the possibility of regular direct flights from Lagos to Bridgetown during the conference between September 1 and 3.
Various topics such as developing special economic zones (SEZs) and industrial parks, improving infrastructure, financing and trade logistics, creating the environment to accelerate private sector investment, increment in the agribusiness opportunities and discussion on the agricultural productivity and food security will be major highlights of Forum.
