Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, on January 26, Wednesday, has attended and taken participation in the 71st Meeting of the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, on January 26, Wednesday, has attended and taken participation in the 71st Meeting of the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). The Meeting was conducted virtually amid the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic.
During the Meeting, the discussions were held on several important topics of concern, where the main topic of concern was the impact of the deadliest COVID-19 and its response.
Other than this, the Caribbean member states also focused upon and held negotiations on the current situation of the region’s tourism, education and economy.
Alongside Prime Minister Skerrit, Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business and Diaspora Relations, Dr Kenneth Darroux and Dominica’s Ambassador to the OECS and CARICOM, Felix Gregoire, was there to accompany PM Skerrit during the Meeting.
PM Skerrit further highlighted the importance of the vaccines against COVID-19 as the Omicron-new variant of the novel coronavirus impacted the world.
Several other Caribbean leaders, including St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris and St Vincent and the Grenadines Ralph Gonsalves, have also participated in the Meeting.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Dominica took it to the Twitter to share the information where he tweeted, “On Wednesday, I virtually participated in the 71st Meeting of the OECS Authority. The Meeting discussed the impact of the #Omicron variant of #COVID19 on the sub-region, updates on issues related to education, tourism and the economy.”
The Meeting was also conducted virtually in the 2021 when OECS Authority discussed reports on the region’s response COVID-19 pandemic, with a primary focus on the vaccine efforts.
