Prime Minister of St Lucia Philip J Pierre has hailed athlete Delan Edwin for securing the 200M national record for the second time and poured wishes to him with his splendid victory.

While expressing his pleasure and congratulation to Edwin, PM Pierre, through his Facebook post, wrote, “Let us celebrate our very own, Delan Edwin. On two consecutive occasions, he shattered the 200M national record”.

He further explained that with his spectacular performance, Edwin has now become twenty-fifth fastest time by a Caribbean man in history, ranking him in the top thirty worldwide for the year thus far.

Pierre emphasised, “As a result of this performance, he now has the twenty-fifth fastest time by a Caribbean man in history, ranking him in the top thirty worldwide for the year thus far”.

Outlining his performance and representation of St Lucia across the globe, PM Pierre said that Delan has now become a profound player like many other athletes who continue to represent our on the world stage proudly.

“Like the many other athletes who continue to represent our country on the world stage proudly, Delan has a promising future ahead of him,” underscored prime minister.

PM Pierre further appealed to their nations to join him in congratulating Edwin and said that everyone should pour wishes on him on his splendid performance. He mentioned, “I ask that you and every St Lucian join me and congratulate him”.

Edwin, born in 1996, is the 26-year-old St Lucian athlete, having the highest ranking of 303 in Men’s 100M, 355 in Men’s 200M and 2802 in Men’s Overall Ranking. The current ranking of the athlete is – 305 in Men’s 100M, 355 in Men’s 200M, and 2837 in Men’s Overall Ranking.

While accepting PM Pierre’s wishes, one resident named Rufus Andre expressed, “Congratulations, young man, continue to make your family and country proud…As you can see, you have impressed the Prime Minister and thousand St.Lucians…Keep your head up and continue to fly your flag high.
