Castries, St Lucia: Prime Minister Philip J Pierre visited Barbados to join the meeting of the CARICOM Heads of government on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. The CARICOM meeting is for one day and is joined by various Heads of government.
The meeting is co-chaired by Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Amor Mottley in Barbados.
Reportedly, the meeting has also attended by Congresswoman Maxine Waters, a representative of the Government of the United States of America.
While informing about his visit, Prime Minister of St Lucia Philip J Pierre noted, “Today I am in Barbados along with other CARICOM Heads of Government at a meeting co-chaired by Prime Minister Mia Mottley and Congresswoman Maxine Waters, the Chairwoman of the United States of America’s House Committee on Financial Services.”
The meeting is focused on De-Risking and Correspondent Banking in the Caribbean Region.
Discussions for the one-day session will also be focused on De-risking and Correspondent Banking in the Caribbean country. Prime Minister Philip J Pierre is expected to return to Saint Lucia on the evening of Wednesday, April 20 2022, to continue preparation for his much anticipated first Budget Address as Prime Minister.
In the absence of Prime Minister of St Lucia Philip J Pierre, Parliamentary representative of Castries Constituency Ernest Hilaire and Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire will act as Prime Minister of St Lucia for one day.
