Castries, Saint Lucia: Prime Minister of Saint Lucia- Philip J Pierre, extended condolences upon the passing of 23-year-old Sherwin “Drizzy” Charlemagne. He died in an accident that occurred at approximately 1:50 am at the bottom section, near Choc, of the Julian R Hunte Highway.
PM Philip J Pierre took to Facebook and posted the condolences note on his sudden and tragic death. He also extended condolences to the family and friends of Drizzy, who are the citizens of PM Pierre’s constituency.
PM Pierre cited, “This morning I learnt of the untimely death of Sherwin “Drizzy” Charlemagne, a tragedy to his family and friends who are also my friends and constituents.”
While hailing Drizzy for his exceptional work, PM Pierre stated that he was a great artist and made a huge contribution to the field of music. He added that he also sang Drizzy’s song named “Clap for Your Birthday/Happy Birthday” at the recently held CARICOM Heads of government.
“Many of you would have known Drizzy as one of the artists behind the song “Clap for Your Birthday/Happy Birthday” which I last sang to celebrate a colleague at the recently concluded CARICOM Heads of Government in February, “said the prime minister.
He expressed disappointment as Drizzy has not been able to participate in the Youth Economy. PM Philip J Pierre noted, “I am saddened that you won’t get to participate in the Youth Economy; you supported its vision from my days as Opposition Leader.”
The comment section of PM Pierre’s social media page featured the condolences of the citizens of Saint Lucia. One of the users named, Magdelene Daniel cited, “Imagine on Sunday we were dancing to the best on my friend’s birthday. Oh wow, life is something else. Condolences to his loved ones.”
Another user named Allie Jean stated, “Deepest condolences to Drizzy’s family and friends. His birthday song is my all-time favourite.”
