The final test match of cricket has been held between the team West Indies and England at Grenada.

PM Mitchell, who is a great cricket lover and a former national player, had somehow predicted that there would be a definitive result in the third test after the team witnessed two draws in the first two games.

He described it as an excellent victory saying, “The team’s overall performance is something to treasure. The standard of play on both sides was commendable, with the teams showing a fighting spirit. This is a good win for the West Indies, and we welcome the victory”.

Prime Minister also expressed his keen interest in securing more victories from the regional cricket team.

“Every time they win, we think that will be a turnaround in their performance, but they have let us down a lot, so we wait to see. But overall, this victory is good for the team; it’s good for the Caribbean, and I’m happy that it happened in Grenada,” PM Mitchell said.

Prime Minister further applauded residents of Grenada for the level of support given to the regional team.

Sharing feedback he has received, PM Mitchell said, “Players and fans have been saying this is the best place they’ve been in terms of the support among the fans and the people’s attitude, how accommodating they have been. But I’m not surprised; that’s the true Grenadian spirit.”

He further added that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, regional players had lauded the country to cheer the players in the tough times, but here in Grenada, due to the presence of the crowd, players get motivated by the constant.

With respect to economic spinoffs, Dr. Mitchell said the match was a tremendous boost for the economy, particularly the accommodation and small business sectors.

He said, “The Government made the right move to invest in this game; there are absolutely no regrets; it has been a good boost for cricket fans, the people generally, and the business sector”.
