PM Holness extends greetings to Jamaican athletes for setting new records in CARIFTA 2022

Jamaica: Prime Minister Andrew Holness extended greetings to all the athletes of Jamaica who have participated in this year’s staging of the CARIFTA Games. 

On Monday, April 18, 2022, Prime Minister Holness took his social media post and wished congratulations to all the players. He expressed pleasure in making and breaking records in the Games. 

The CARIFTA 2022 games are organised by Jamaica, and from the opening day of Saturday, April 16, 2022, the country has been performing incredibly well. 

The country has successfully managed to secure 54 medals in total after day 2 of the start of the event. The total medals include 26 golds, 19 silvers and nine bronze. 

In addition to that, Jamaica also tops the chart of the medal standing as it bagged 21 medals on Sunday, April 17, 2022.

Jamaica tallied 54 medals, including 26 golds, 19 silvers, and nine bronze. On Saturday morning, the country bagged 33 medals. 

While congratulating the athletes, PM Holness noted, “Congratulations to all the athletes who participated in this year’s staging of the CARIFTA Games. It was a joy to see our athletes dominating the track and breaking records.

He also extended greetings to the Under-20 and boys to set a new record in the 4×100 relays. 

PM Holness stated, “Special recognition to the Under-20 girls and boys who set a new world record in the 4×100 relays. The future of track and field is bright.”

On his twitter post he also exclaimed that this is time to cheer the athletes who are participating in CARIFTA 2022 games.

PM Holness said,”Let’s wish our athletes good luck in their individual events as they continue to make Jamaica extremely proud.”

Further, the British Virgin Islands successfully secured the second position in the medal standings with four gold medals on Saturday. Till now, overall, five medals are on the list of the country. 

Besides this, Trinidad and Tobago stands in the third position with 16 medals. It includes a total of two golds, six silvers and eight bronze as per the Saturday tally. On the other hand, it added four medals to its tally on Sunday.
