PM Harris participates in opening of Switzerland Consulate in St Kitts and Nevis

In addition to that, Prime Minister Timothy Harris also participated in the official opening ceremony of the Switzerland Consulate General in the capital of the Federation named Basseterre. The opening ceremony has further enhanced the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris meet with Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation, Rita Hammerli-Weschke, on her inaugural visit to St Kitts and Nevis on Thursday, March 10, 2022. 

In addition to that, Prime Minister Timothy Harris also participated in the official opening ceremony of the Switzerland Consulate General in the capital of the Federation named Basseterre. The opening ceremony has further enhanced the diplomatic relations between the two countries. 

Moreover, the opening ceremony witnessed special guests, which included the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley along with Prime Minister Harris from St Kitts and Nevis. On the other hand, Ambassador Rita Hammerli–Weschke and Ernest Amory CSM, MBE, Consul of the Swiss Confederation in the Federation.

While informing about the opening ceremony of Dr Timothy Harris, the official statement reads, “This afternoon, Prime Minister Dr The Honourable Timothy Harris witnessed and participated in the official opening of the #Switzerland Consulate General in Basseterre”. 

Further, the ribbon cut ceremony was held in the opening ceremony. PM Harris has been joined by Mark Brantley, Ambassador Rita and Amory for the official ribbon cutting and plaque.

The statement also stated that Prime Minister Harris, alongside Minister of Foreign Affairs the Honourable Mark Brantley, cut the ribbon to the new consulate with Rita Hammerli-Weschke, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation. Also present was Ernest Amory CSM, MBE, Consul of the Swiss Confederation in the Federation.

Expressing his pleasure to meet Amabassdor Rita and participate in the opening ceremony, PM Harris stated, “Delighted to meet with Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation, HE Rita Hammerli-Weschke, on her inaugural visit to St Kitts and Nevis”. 

Further, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley also welcomed Rita Hammerli-Weschke, Ambassador of #Switzerland, to #St Kitts and #Nevis on her inaugural visit.

He recognized the meeting’s importance for the diplomatic relations between St Kitts and Nevis and Switzerland. 

While emphasizing the importance of the meeting, Mark Brantley noted,” Such an honour to welcome HE Rita Hammerli-Weschke, Ambassador of #Switzerland to #StKitts and #Nevis on her inaugural visit. We look forward to strengthening and deepening ties with Switzerland as they open their Honorary Consulate here later today”. 

He stated the opening of the Swiss Consulate in the Federation capital plays a significant role in the upliftment of the diplomatic relations and also increase the various ways for the countries to aid them in various matters of concern.
