Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris met with David Doyle, who is an Ambassador of St Kitts and Nevis to UNESCO, on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris met with David Doyle, who is an Ambassador of St Kitts and Nevis to UNESCO, on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. The discussion in the meeting was majorly revolved around the various projects related to UNESCO.

During that meeting, Ambassador Doyle updated Prime Minister Harris on UNESCO projects that are being organized and the work being done at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

UNESCO has always delivered their strong support in various fields, especially in technical aspects, to the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis. It also assists the government in stronger the area such as education, sport, biodiversity and social frameworks.

Dr David Doyle, in the meeting, spoke on three specific and tangible projects. These projects were funded by UNESCO to provide technical assistance to the Federation.

In intangible cultural heritage, the first project is known as one of the flagship projects of UNESCO, which helps the members states like ours to determine documents, preserve, conserve and promote all forms of intangible cultural heritage. It is largely focused on creative industries but also objects and items, music, singing, etc., for which this country has a very rich heritage,” said Ambassador Doyle.

He further talked about the second project involving the framework and follow-up for the development of the sports industry in St Kitts and Nevis. On the other hand, the third project depended upon the World Heritage Programme where they will find out the well-documented historical heritage across the Federation

UNESCO is really doing quite a lot of work in St. Kitts and Nevis and the people are benefiting, and so we are saying that we want to be able to, in this programme and every day, to let people know what UNESCO is doing so that they can further support and appreciate UNESCO to kind of raise the visibility of UNESCO in St. Kitts and Nevis.
