Antigua and Barbuda: Following the victory of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party in the general elections, Prime Minister Gaston Browne was sworn into office for the third consecutive year on Thursday. The swearing ceremony was held at the government house at 10:30 am.
ABLP has been declared victorious at nine (9) seats, as per the Electoral Commission. Along with the prime minister, Attorney General was the first of the new Parliament to be sworn in.
PM Gaston Browne expressed pleasure in the swearing ceremony and stated, “I am humbled to serve you. Thank you for the opportunity to take our country to the Next Level.”
It is expected that the other members of Parliament will be sworn in Friday morning at the same venue.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has excelled in his academic life, his personal life, his professional life and that as a leader for our great nation. He has seen us through the worst pandemic in modern history. He brought a University Campus to benefit not only the Antiguans and Barbudans but also the fellow OECS family.
He brought a Housing Revolution like none other, and he has led the charge in prioritizing investments for sustainable water production. He has and will continue to take Antigua and Barbuda to the Next Level.
Samantha N. Marshall- parliamentary representative for St Mary’s South, expressed gratitude to the voters who voted for her. She added, “Upon being elected as the Member of Parliament for St Mary’s South in 2014, I have had the tremendous privilege of serving the constituency and its people, from Bolans to Cades Bay. You’ve stood by me for two terms as we delivered many developmental achievements despite the seemingly ever-insurmountable challenges.”
She cited that today, St Mary’s South has embarked on a new chapter in its history. She extended her heartiest congratulations to Kelvin Simon on his election and offered her best wishes over the tenure to come.
She also extends her heartfelt gratitude to Team Marshall for their steadfast commitment and dedication to her vision of improving the lives and livelihoods of persons across St Mary’s South.
“I shall continue my commitment to community development, women and youth empowerment, and nation-building. As we move forward, let’s dwell in love and unity as we each endeavour and we all achieve, “she added.
