Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party announced the various programmes and plans implemented by the administration of PM Gaston Browne for the upliftment of the Youth in different sectors, such as technology and sports.

Antigua and Barbuda: Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party announced the various programmes and plans implemented by the administration of PM Gaston Browne for the upliftment of the Youth in different sectors, such as technology and sports. 

  • Programmes for advancing Youth and hearing their voices:

Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party stated that Youth is the primary focus of the large of money that the ABLP administration has spent on education, including the five islands campus of the university of the west indies, the construction of the Sir Novelle Richards Academy in Antigua, and the expansion and renovation of schools in both Antigua and Barbuda.

  • Youth have benefitted from five islands and scholarships. 

Youth are also the beneficiaries of the $240 million that the ABLP government has spent over the last eight years, providing for higher education both on five islands and overseas.

  • Sports Facilities directed at Youth

The many facilities for sports activities across the country have also been built for the benefit of young people, not only for their recreational activities but also to help prepare those who are interested in participating in regional and international games.

As has been mentioned in the “sports” section of this manifesto, the ABLP government has already broken ground for the construction of a new aquatic centre with an appropriate size international swimming pool, and it will construct a multi-purpose, well-equipped indoor sports centre that will prepare our young people for competition in regional and international games.

All this underscores the commitment of the ABLP government to provide opportunities for the growth, development, and empowerment of our Youth. 

Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party also announced some plans for making the environment priority in St Mary’s South which is as follows: 

  • Creating more family-friendly green spaces
  • Protecting marine coastal ecosystems in collaboration with The Department of the Environment, NGOs, and community groups
  • Certified training in renewables energy management at the St Mary’s South Community Development Centre
  • Launch the St Mary’s Beautification Project Support for eco-tourism and other green businesses through the Entrepreneurship Development Fund (EDF)
  • Encourage women and Youth to become ‘greenpreneurs’ at the SMS StartUp Hub. 

On the issue of climate change, Samantha N. Marshall- MP (St. Mary’s South), Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Barbuda, stated that Despite the adverse challenges posed by climate change, the collective efforts to protect the environment present incredible opportunities from promoting sustainability, security and a prosperous future for all. 

She added, “With St Mary’s South being a coastal constituency with many areas rich with biodiversity, I am committed to their protection and sustainability as we work together.” 

Prime Minister Gaston Browne is committed to working day and night for the upliftment of Antigua and Barbuda. 

PM Gaston Browne cited, “We are ***ONE NATION*** with an economy recovering from the worst pandemic in 100 years. Let us come together on 18 January and support economic growth and unity, not division and baseless, bad-minded chat.” 

He added, “We have come through so much during COVID, and it is beautiful to see the country come together. We are ONE nation, recovering from the pandemic and getting back to work.”Â
