Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister Gaston Browne also joined other CARICOM heads of government in the ninth Summit of the Americas that is held in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, where he met President of the United States Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Gaston Browne with his wife Maria Browne arrives at the inaugural event of the IX Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, California (Wednesday 8th June 2022).
During the Summit, Prime Minister Gaston Browne interacted with different leaders and held different meetings. Firstly, after the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Maria Browne greet President of the United States Joseph Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne and CARICOM Colleagues, are currently in Los Angeles, USA, attending the Summit of the Americas. The Summit will engage Hemisphere leaders in discussing pertinent issues such as building a sustainable and resilient future along with democracy, technology, and pandemic resilience.
Further, on the second day of the Summit of the Americas, Prime Minister Gaston Browne along with CARICOM Heads of the government with the vice president of the United States Kamla Harris during the ninth Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, California.
The robust multilateral discussions looked at several talking points such as US – CARICOM relations and opportunities to strengthen that partnership, Climate resilience, and a proactive approach to combating the ongoing climate change crisis on a regional level.
Prime Minister Browne stated that Caribbean leaders would use the opportunity to defend the Caribbean’s position noting that the United States has shown some interest in the Caribbean during the COVID pandemic by providing vaccines and PPEs.
The country’s leader pointed out that the Caribbean needs real, practical solutions to their problems and therefore believes that this is an opportunity for them to advocate on behalf of the Caribbean people for increased collaboration and support from the United States.
