Antigua and Barbuda: At the ninth Summit of the Americas, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda– Gaston Browne, gave a keynote statement and addressed the world leaders and delegates on Friday, June 10, 2022.
The ninth Summit of the Americas was held in Los Angeles, California, and various CARICOM heads of the government joined the Summit. Prime Minister Gaston Browne, along with his wife Maria Browne, held various engagements at the Summit.
PM Browne met OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro and Senator of the United States Chris Dodd. Further, Antigua and Barbuda Ambassador to the OAS, Sir Ron Sanders, accompanied PM Browne at the Summit.
The report came from the OPM Antigua and Barbuda, which stated that Prime Minister Gaston Browne addressed world leaders and delegates at the IX Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, California.
“Prime Minister Browne was also engaged in discussions with OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro and US Senator Chris Dodd.”
Further, along with other CARICOM Heads of the government, Prime Minister also engaged with the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, during the Summit.
He stated that the Summit featured robust multilateral discussions that looked at several talking points such as the US – CARICOM relations and opportunities to strengthen that partnership, Climate resilience and a proactive approach to combating the ongoing climate change crisis on a regional level.
Earlier, Prime Minister Gaston Browne also attended the inaugural ceremony of the Summit of the Americas. He held an interaction with President of the United States Joe Biden and his wife. The CARICOM Heads of government, such as Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of St Lucia Philip J Pierre, Prime Minister of Guyana Irfaan Ali, Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness and Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Dr Keith Rowley also attended the ninth Summit of the Americas.
