Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda- Gaston Browne was paid a courtesy visit by Wendy McDonald, Regional Vice President -Government Relations Caribbean for Royal Caribbean Cruise Group, on Friday, July 8, 2022.

The interaction was based on the detailed report on the successful employment drive conducted by the Royal Caribbean in Antigua last week. 

The government of Antigua and Barbuda has come up with mega job opportunities in cruise tourism for their people. Reportedly, the Royal Caribbean facilitates a mega recruitment drive to the country for various job opportunities on the cruise. 

According to reports from the Ministry of Tourism, 500 individuals were invited for the job interviews. Three hundred ninety-eight persons showed up for these interviews at the Multi-purpose Center, while 368 were offered jobs on the spot. Several individuals are also pending for 2nd level interviews for specialized positions on the ship.

The mega job fair that was completed last Friday bore fruition as a result of a memorandum of understanding signed by the Minister of Tourism and Investment, Charles ‘Max’ Fernandez and the Royal Caribbean Group earlier this year.

As per the various guidelines of the Royal Caribbean and the government of Antigua and Barbuda, persons who are citizens of the country were eligible to apply for the various position in the cruise during a July 4 to 7 recruitment drive.

The drive was held at the Multi-Purpose and Cultural Exhibition Centre at Perry Bay from 9 am to 4 pm daily.  

Further, the Royal Caribbean Group has organized a recruitment drive across the globe, and the job contacts could range from six months depending on the position and department. 

The person had been selected for the positions offered on the spot during the July 4 to 7 recruitment drive, and candidates had to successfully complete a medical evaluation. People should be fully vaccinated or could be involved in the vaccination process.
