PM Browne meets Rotary Club's DG Alleyne on her courtesy call
As part of her official duties to Antigua and Barbuda, Rotary’s District Governor (DG) for the Southern Caribbean and South America (District 7030), DG Sonya Alleyne, paid a courtesy call to Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne on Monday, February 28, 2022.
DG Sonya was accompanied by Assistant Governor Evangeline Allen and representatives of both the Rotary Club of Antigua and Barbuda and the Rotary Club of Antigua Sundown.
During the courtesy visit, Prime Minister Browne welcomed the visiting DG to Antigua and Barbuda, and in the exchange of pleasantries, he also lauded the work of Rotary Clubs around the world.
He emphasized that the Rotary Club has worked mainly with regard to youth development initiatives and giving back to the less fortunate over the years.
Prime Minister Gaston Barbuda also gave kudos to the Club for initiatives that were developed to help the general public cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.
DG Sonya pinned PM Browne with the Peace Pin in commemoration of World Peace and Understanding Day, which was recognized by Rotary International on February 23 2022.
Earlier, Rotary Club, more than 100 Rotarians who belong to the Rutherford Country has gathered at the Lane Agri-Park in Murfreesboro and made a panel build so that it could aid the Humanity Home with a habitat. The delegates of the panel build volunteers have built all the interior and exterior walls of a Habitat for the Humanity Home during the off-site panel build.
It has also celebrated its 35th Anniversary and also initiated various programmes Rotary Club also donated new homes to Andre Hughes and also started the wheels project, and also installed new boards of various projects.
Moreover, Playtech also donated the library and computer lab projects of Rotary to various missionaries. On November 16, 2021, it also inducted new members in the Rotary Club.
