PM Allen Chastanet joins sports award ceremony after quarantine period

The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia island - Allen Chastanet, completed his time period of fourteen days of quarantine after he returned from Miami for official state business.

Saint Lucia: The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia island – Allen Chastanet, completed his time period of fourteen days of quarantine after he returned from Miami for official state business.

After the completion of 14 days, quarantine PM Chastanet made his first public appearance by joining the Desruisseaux Youth and Sports Council as they held their inaugural Youth and Sports Awards Ceremony.

PM Chastanet stated, “Throughout the evening, we recognized the contributions of various youth of the community who are succeeding in their various fields of endeavour, all whilst contributing towards the development of the constituency.”

PM Chastanet further expressed his joy and stated that he too was delighted and encouraged to see the majority of award winners were – young men as generally people watch and hear about the success stories of the young women of St Lucia.

PM Chastanet congratulated the winners and Desruisseaux youth and stated that he is very proud of them.

The St Lucia prime minister visited the United States from 5 May to 8 May 2021 for several meetings, including key engagements with cruise industry officials in Miami, Florida, in the US.

The island recorded ten new cases on 23 May 2021, taking the total number of the COVID-19 cases to 4,955, while nine people recovered on 23 May, taking a total number of recoveries in the nation to 4,635.

A total of 77 deaths have been reported on the island due to the coronavirus – COVID-19 virus.

As of 22 May 2021, 27,395 individuals have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and a total of 17,902 people have received their second dose and are fully vaccinated, which is 9.8 per cent of the total population.

PM Allen has also received his doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and is fully vaccinated.
