Barbados: Pirates Swim Club Barbados announced the achievements of their swimmers and outlined the records of the medal of these players. The club appreciated the players and worked well for the upliftment of swimming in Barbados. 

Zachary Ladipo

Zachary Ladipo competed in the eight and Under Age group at this year’s SCNAT. He won 1 Gold medal and 6 Bronze medals. He also placed 4th in the 200m IM.

Gabriella Babb

At Short Course Nationals, Gabriella Babb won 6 Gold medals and 1 Silver medal, which resulted in her being awarded the trophy as this year’s eight and Under Age-group Champion. Unfortunately, Gabby fell ill and missed the final day’s events.

Fayth Jeffrey

Fayth Jeffrey won the Age Group Champion trophy in the 11-12 Girls Division with a total of 71 pounts at the just-concluded ASATT, which was held in Trinidad. She also established a new St. Lucia Age-group and National Record in the 200m IM. Fayth received 5 Gold medals, 1 Silver medal, and 2 Bronze medals. She also placed 4th in the 100m Free.

Toria Alleyne

Toria Alleyne was awarded the second place trophy in the 11-12 Age-group, amassing a total of 58 points, with a total of 3 Gold medals and 4 Silver medals. She also placed 4th in the 100m Breast and 50m Back.

At last night’s The Barbados Olympic Association’s 2022 Annual Awards Ceremony, some of our Pirates swimmers were recognized by the Association for their achievements in their respective disciplines:

Jaiya Simmons won the People’s Choice Award and Junior Female Athlete of the Year Award. Fynn Armstrong won the award for Junior Male Athlete of the Year for his performances in Athletics and Triathlon.

  • Matthew Wright, former Pirate, won Senior Male Athlete Special Recognition Award.
  • Dave Farmer won the Coach of the Year Award.
  • Danielle Treasure was a nominee for Senior Female Athlete of the Year and was recognized for her performance at the Caribbean Games.
  • Hailey Banfield was a nominee for Junior Female Athlete of the Year for her performance in Triathlon.
