PAM leader Shawn Richards outlines their Youth Agenda, says it's a necessity
St Kitts and Nevis: Leader of People’s Action Movement (PAM)- Shawn K Richards outlined his Youth Agenda for the upcoming elections and shared an update on Constituency Development Fund under a Unity Movement construct with PAM/CCM in their PAM meet-up.
PAM leader Shawn Richards noted that Youth Agenda ensures that young people have a seat at the decision-making table so that they can be strategic contributors to their future.
He said that it’s no longer good enough for young people to merely be observers of policy and leadership. They must be meaningfully engaged and recognized as active decision-makers.
Shawn K Richards stated that youth leadership would be valued and supported by investment and policy under a Unity Movement (PAM/CCM) administration. They will create youth-friendly environments through training opportunities, policies, and financial investment where young people can thrive.
“We will create a framework, such as Youth Council, so that we could better engage with young people in a meaningful and respectful manner, sharing knowledge, experience, and constructive criticism as active partners, understanding that they share equal rights and responsibilities,” underlined Shawn Richards.
Outlining the significance of the Youth Agenda, he stated that this is not just a promise – this is a necessity. It’s an essential component of the forward trajectory of this nation.
He added that it’s no longer good enough for young people to merely be observers of policy and leadership. They must be meaningfully engaged and recognized as active decision-makers.
“Youth leadership will be valued and supported by investment and policy under a REAL Unity administration. We will create youth-friendly environments through training opportunities, policies, and financial investment where young people can thrive,” he asserted.

He exclaimed that it’s an essential component of the forward trajectory of this nation.
Shawn K Richards also outlined that there will be a Constituency Development Fund under a Unity Movement construct with PAM/CCM.
He said that every MP would be provided with an allocation to help take care of their constituency. Every Representative, once elected, regardless of party affiliation, will have an allocation of the resources from CBI to help meet the needs of their constituents.
He said that every Representative. Why? It’s simple. They represent people.
Shedding light upon the CBI funds, the PAM leader added that the earnings of CBI belong to the people. They are required to take care of the people. That is their role, and a PAM/CCM government will enable them to do it and to do it effectively.
He stressed that it is about the people. Fair share. Equal opportunities. Equitable access to the resources of this land.
Equitable distribution of a pool of funds to all MPs to pursue projects in their constituencies.
Project allocation will include areas such as:
+ Physical infrastructure projects:
+ Human and social development
+ Economic enablement projects
+ Disaster mitigation
“We must unite our country. We must usher in a new form of politics – one of unity and not division,” he underlined.
