Grenada: The Country Programme Specialist, Fiona Anthony of Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), has commended the Community Nursing Department of the Ministry of Health and Social Security of Grenada on their staging of activities, including a training workshop on the importance of vaccines and the proper administration, storage and benefits of vaccination.

She also commended the Nurses and the Ministry of Health for their leadership in the management of COVID-19 and urged them not to stop doing what she called an excellent job. 

Fiona Anthony added that the COVID-19 cases are rising everywhere and so encouraged the adherence to safety measures such as vaccination against COVID-19, the proper wearing of masks, physical distancing and hand-washing.

The training was held over a period of two days in St. George’s, Grenada, and coincided with activities marking Vaccination Week in the Americas 2022. This year’s observance is celebrated under the theme- Are you fully vaccinated. 

She also encouraged the citizens of the country to get vaccinated. 

Earlier, there was a message from the Minister for Health and Social Security, Hon. Nickolas Steele, on the observance of Vaccination Week in the Americas, 2022. The theme for this year’s observance is, “Are you fully vaccinated? #Get All Your Shots!”.

A number of public and private activities have been planned by the Community Nursing Department of the Ministry as part of the week of activities.
