A delegation led by St Kitts and Nevis’ Ambassador to the United Kingdom, represented the Caribbean country at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2022 (CHOGM) in Kigali, Rwanda. Ambassador Kevin Isaac and Gurdip Bath- Special Representative of St Kitts and Nevis, tabled the regional issues during various forums at the CHOGM.
Isaac, who is also the Chairman of the Commonwealth Board of Governors during his participation, stated that there’s nothing more significant than 54 countries and their people coming together to celebrate and underscore a common commitment to working in partnership to deliver a shared future.
Bath also posted various Tweets on his official handle, sharing the constant updates about St Kitts and Nevis’ representation at the CHOGM 2022. He wrote, “I am honoured and proud to be amongst the Heads of Government from the Commonwealth. It is indeed a privilege to represent St Kitts and Nevis at CHOGM, Kigali Convention Centre,”.

During the CHOGM 2022, Patricia Scotland was re-elected to serve a second term as the Secretary General of the Commonwealth. St Kitts and Nevis had also encouraged her candidature for re-election among many other Commonwealth nations. The elections to select the new Commonwealth Secretary-General were one of the major agendas of this year’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). The ballot was done during the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting on Friday, with representatives from 54 commonwealth countries voting to elect the new Secretary-General.

Notably, the 2022 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, also known as CHOGM 2022, was the 26th Meeting of the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Nations. The summit was postponed twice due to COVID-19 and was originally scheduled for 26–27 June 2020. Usually, it is held every two years, with the next one scheduled for 2024
The 2022 CHOGM was held under the theme “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming”.
The Prime Minister of Dominica- Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda- Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of St Lucia- Philip J Pierre, Prime Minister of the Bahamas- Philip Davis, and Prime Minister of Jamaica- Andrew Holness were also among the Caribbean heads of governments who participated in the meeting.
