An under-construction luxurious building on Tuesday collapsed in Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria. The head of the state’s emergency services further notified nearly 6 people were killed in the incident.

This crowded country of Africa witnessed several collapses of the buildings in its territory. The regulations have been poorly enforced, and sometimes the material being used in construction lacks in quality.

While further notifying the 6 deaths of the people in building collapse, Lagos state official Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu stated, “Currently, all first responders are on the ground while the search and rescue is continuing.”

7 people have been rescued alive by the teams of rescuers. These people were found when the team cleaned the debris scattered over the broken concrete as well the twisted metal. Till now, over 100 people have gone missing after the luxurious residential infrastructure collapsed, several workers, are trapped under the pile of rubble.

President Muhammadu Buhari called for a speeding-up of the rescue operation.

Disturbed families whose relatives and loved ones were missing declined to speak to the media. However, they were heard accusing emergency services of lack of urgency after rescue efforts were briefly halted due to rains.
