St Kitts and Nevis: Nevis Island Administration has organised the special sitting of the Nevis Island Assembly to pay tribute to the memory of the great Vance Winkworth Amory on Tuesday, April 20, 2022.
Further Premier of Nevis and Leader of the Concerned Citizens’ Movement Mark Brantley also invited the people of the Caribbean country to join the special sitting of the Nevis Island Assembly to mark respect for late Ambassador Vance Amory.
“Please join us now as we pay tribute to the memory of the great Vance Winkworth Amory at a special sitting of the Nevis Island Assembly”, underlined Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley.
Today, the Nevis Island Assembly hosted a special sitting in honour of the former Premier of Nevis, the late Ambassador Vance Amory.
Parliamentarians from St. Kitts journeyed to Nevis to participate in Tuesday’s event in a show of respect for the late Mr Amory.
Among those in attendance were Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris; Deputy Prime Minister Shawn Richards; Jonel Powel, Lindsay Grant; AKilah Byron-Nisbett; Wendy Phipps; Cabinet Secretary, Mrs Josephine Huggins, as well as Leader of the Opposition Dr Denzil Douglas; Geoffrey Hanley, and the nation’s only living National Hero, Dr Kennedy Simmonds.
Many in attendance gave glowing tributes to Vance Amory, highlighting the legacy he has left behind.
Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Timothy Harris, also addressed the special setting in the Nevis Island Assembly.
While addressing the special setting, PM Harris remarked Late Ambassador Vance Amory was a national hero and also added that he would be recommended that he would be considered by the committee to be elevated to the status of National Hero.
Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris outlined the incredible work done by the late Ambassador and former Premier of Nevis Vance Winkworth Amory to uplift the various sectors in the Federation. In order to appreciate all the positive changes taken out by the lives and livelihoods of the people of Nevis, PM Harris also stated that the Late Vance Amory should be given the status of National Hero.
