The national Covid-19 special Taskforce is working with port officials, health authorities, and other stakeholders to review the entry protocols for travellers to slow down the continuous rise in Covid-19.

The chairman of Taskforce Abdiasa Samuel said that, ” our team recently took a walkthrough tour of R. L. Bradshaw international airport as they seek to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the process and processing of incoming travellers.”

“We have heard the concerns of our hoteliers, citizens and some of our guests.”

As with the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in Caribbean nations, border protection agencies have also buckled-up to combat the problem of continuous spread.

Chairman Samuel further added, “representatives from border protection agencies are also considering the matter to identify and eliminate the processes.”

“The objective to speed up incoming passenger, however, will not undermine the efforts of port surveillance by health authorities.The officials will remain vigilant in efforts to screen the incoming passengers and curb spread of Covid-19.”

As people have started moving out, due to which the recent spike has taken place. Whereas, every nation has setup their travelling protocols to put barrier at further spread of Covid-19.

Mr Samuel further added that, “yes we want change and we are ready to absorb the risks of reviewing the further spread but let me aware you of this. we have setup three barriers to help us in buffering the protection of the Covid-19 virus.”

The barrier referred by Mr Samuel were designed to monitor the incoming passengers. this process involves officials from Ministries of National Security, Health along with the Department of Immigration and Customs and Excise Department. the second tier of defence is to robust the port health surveillance system.
Surveillance and scrutinizing passengers is considered to as the perfect medium to curb Covid-19. The third barrier reflects the need to monitor the documents of the incoming passengers.
