Nevis: Department of Youth of Nevis announced that Youth Month 2023 turned out to be a successful event. Youth Month 2023 was nothing short of amazing. The success achieved during the month’s activities resulted from hard work, patience, cooperation, and support.

The Youth Month 2023 of Nevis was carded from April 1 to May 1, 2023, under to theme- Inspire to Aspire.

Easter Camp, dubbed Camp Inspire, was one of our main events for Youth Month. The Ministry personnel, Departments’ staff, volunteers, parents, sponsors, campers and well-wishers were incredibly awesome.

Upon reflection, they must highlight Miss Lanisa Burke and Miss Maycil Huggins. They were the real MVPs of Camp Inspire. Lanisa served as a Youth Development Officer for nigh ten years. Although she transitioned to the Department of Education as an early childhood educator, her support has been unwaivering. Lanisa is ALWAYS present. Department of Youth of Nevis extended gratitude and stated,”We thank you, Lanisa.”

Maycil is the cleaner attached to the Department of Sports and oh what a committed lady is Maycil. Every spilt beverage, loose trash, clothes to be changed, bags to be cleaned and repacked etc., Maycil was front and center to ensure a hygienic and safe environment. She assisted with the management of the campers as though she was a camp leader. Department of Youth of Nevis stated, “Maycil, we recognize your work and we deeply appreciate you.”

Parents, the next time that you see any of the two lovely ladies, as well as the committed, driven, and eager Youth and Sports Officers (uncles and aunties of Camp Inspire), kindly extend words of encouragement and gratitude to them for safely managing ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY children. “It was a rewarding experience and we’ll do it all over again,” said the department.

Department of Youth of Nevis also announced the categories for the Youth Impact 12 Awards for May, June and July month.
