Nevis: Premier of Nevis and the leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement Mark Brantley expressed pleasure after witnessing huge growth in the employment opportunities for the young generation of the country.

Through his social media post, Premier Mark Brantley outlined the growth in the job across the island as tremendous, and the data from the official website shows that the various departments of government witnessed a huge surge.

Mark Brantley noted that despite being devastated by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the incredible efforts of the Nevis Island Administration, the employees in Nevis grew by 2.9 percent and the number of jobs grew by 4.9 percent.

Premier Mark Brantley exclaimed,” Excellent news on the job front for Nevis. As we recover from the Covid-19 pandemic we are seeing some job growth on Nevis which is encouraging.”

He also outlined the official data from Social Security and added that the official data from Social Security up to March 2022 shows that the number of employees in Nevis grew by 2.9% and the number of jobs grew by 4.9%.

Shedding light on the hike in wages, Premier Mark Brantley emphasized that during the same period, gross wages grew by a significant 7.3% and wages per employee grew by 4.3% while wages per job grew by 2.4%.

He said that Social Security does not account for all jobs as many self-employed and others working in undeclared jobs are not captured.

Premier Mark Brantley exclaimed,” Of course, Social Security does not account for all jobs as many self-employed and others working in undeclared jobs are not captured.”

He stated that the actual numbers then are much higher.

Premier Brantley asserted that the country is mobbing in the right direction and a government,” We are moving in the right direction, Nevis. Let us not only keep but increase the momentum.”
