Nevis: Premier of Nevis and the leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement- Mark Brantley, extended warm greetings and wishes to Joy Napier, who has captured the Chevening Scholarship to study in the United Kingdom.

Through his social media, Premier of Nevis- Mark Brantley stated that with her huge hard work, she became able to excel in the achievement. She now gets an opportunity to study in the United Kingdom, which will provide her with great life endeavours.

He noted, “Please help me congratulate another brilliant mind from Nevis who has just captured the prestigious Chevening Scholarship to study in the United Kingdom. Congratulations, Joy Napier. The sky is the limit!! Keep pushing.”

Joy is the Founder and Principal of Nevis International Secondary School.

She is an educator and tireless advocate for youth empowerment and political participation. Joy has over a decade of experience in Educational Leadership in St Kitts and Nevis and has also worked as a teacher in Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

She will be pursuing an MSc in International Development from the University of Edinburgh with a focus on youth and politics. Her goal is to radically transform the education landscape of St Kitts and Nevis through progressive policy.

Joy also hopes to create further spaces for the meaningful participation of young people in civil society and political decision-making.

Earlier, a truly significant ceremony this morning as the first-ever Cedric Armbrister Scholarship was awarded by the Nevis Electricity Company (NEVLEC) to Erim Herbert of Cotton Ground, Nevis. Herbert will be studying engineering at the University of the West Indies.

He stated,” I feel proud today that the vision of this Government of putting people first is now being manifest in all of our various agencies and statutory entities.”

Young Erim is a wonderful example of young Nevisians with huge potential who just need an opportunity. NEVLEC provided him with that opportunity and did so in the name of one of the pioneers in electricity generation in Nevis, Cedric Armbrister, of blessed memory.

Earlier, he also extended huge greetings to the Leeward Islands U19 cricket team for winning the Cricket West Indies tournament. A special shout out to my cousin Onaje Amory and skipper Carlon Tuckett. Well done to the entire team.Â
