Nevis: Jal’den Myers receives youth impact award in category of sports excellence

Department of Youth of Nevis shared the profile of Jal'den Myers, who became the youth impact 12 awardees in the category of sports excellence. Jal'den Myers is a young athlete who is currently in his prime.

Nevis: Department of Youth of Nevis shared the profile of Jal’den Myers, who became the youth impact 12 awardees in the category of sports excellence. Jal’den Myers is a young athlete who is currently in his prime. 

This hasn’t just come about recently, but as a result of years of honing and polishing his natural athletic abilities through his love and passion for football and his drive to fulfil his dreams.

Like many youngsters in his village, playing football came naturally to Jal’den. Through encouragement from family members and mentors, Jal’den has managed to gain quite a few accomplishments.

The football field became Jal’den’s second home. This is evident in his selection to local and national teams including the Bath United Football Team, Nevis U-13 Football Team, St Kitts- Nevis National U-15, U-17 and U-20 Teams. He participated in various competitions including:

The 2018 Willful Skillful Tournament in St. Maarten

  • CONCACAF U-17 Tournament in Tampa, Florida
  • CONCACAF U-15 Tournament in Tampa, Florida
  • U-20 Leeward Islands Tournament in St Kitts & Nevis
  • 2022 CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Despite not making his St Kitts-Nevis Senior National team debut as yet, Jal’den has been

called up several times to be a part of the St. Kitts Nevis Football Association’s Senior Male

Training Squads. It is only a matter of time before he takes that next step. Jal’den is also the captain of the Bath United Football Club team since the age of 15. In addition, he was a member of the St. John’s Parish Teams that captured the Parish League Titles in 2017 and 2018.

Along with is superb repertoire and exploits in football, Jal’den also developed a reputation

during his high school years as an outstanding field events athlete. He represented the Charlestown Secondary School in events such as the javelin and high jump during his

secondary school tenure, with some outstanding performances at the Nevis Highschools’ and TDC St.Kitts-Nevis Inter-high Championship.

Most recently, Jal’den has sort to impart some of the knowledge and experience he has gained over the years to the youth of Nevis. He is currently employed as a Sports Officer in the Department of Sports. He also serves as an assistant coach at the SKNFA/NFA Grassroots initiative. Jal’den is always willing and able to assist when it comes to sporting activities for young people, especially in the area of football. His goal is to eventually become a professional footballer and represent his country’s senior national team at a major event.Â
