Nevis elections results 2022: CCM and NRP secure two seats each, know deets

Nevis: The electoral commission declared the results of the Nevis Island Assembly elections 2022 on Monday night. The Concerned Citizens Movement won the two constituencies, while the Nevis Reformation Party also secured the two seats. The result of Nevis #2 has yet to be announced.

Electoral districts #1 and # 3 were won by the CCM, while #2 and # 4 were secured by NRP.

The constituencies won by the Concerned Citizens Movement:

  • Nevis #1:Spencer Brand of Concerned Citizens Movement bagged electoral district #1, St Pauls with 631 votes. His voter turnout emerged at 50.9 percent. On the other hand, the opposition candidate Jaedee Cainess of the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP), received 604 votes with 48.7 percent.
  • Nevis #3: Eric Evelyn of the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) secured the landslide victory in electoral district #3, St Georges, with 736 votes. Evelyn secured the constituency with a voter turnout of 69.6 percent and paved the path to the assembly from St Georges. On the other hand, the candidate of the Nevis Reformation Party, Rohan Isles, received 311 voters, which determined 29.4 percent.

The constituencies won by the Nevis Reformation Party:

  •  Nevis #4: The Nevis Reformation Party Candidate Dr Janice Daniel Hodge secured electoral district # 4 with 750 votes. She secured a voter turnout of 49.8 percent. On the other hand, the candidate of the Concerned Citizens Movement- Alexis Jeffers gathered 742 votes which determined 49.3 percent. He lost the constituency with just 8 votes. At the same time, the MRM candidate received 11 votes which is 0.7 percent.
  • Nevis #5: The St Thomas constituency has been won by the candidate of NRP Cleone Stapleton Simmonds with 712 votes. She secured a 58.4 percent voter turnout. On the other hand, the second slot has been bagged by Latoya Biyanca Jones of the Concerned Citizens Movement with 508 votes which determined 41.6 percent.

Meanwhile, the counting on Nevis #2 is still going on. So far, the leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement- Mark Brantley is trailing with 613 votes. On the hand, the NRP candidate Dr Patricia Bartlette secured 665 and is leading from the constituency. However, the five ballot boxes are still to be counted.
