Nevis Culturama 49 Kaiso Season Kicks off with an Impressive Rehearsal

Nevis: Nevis has kicked off the much-anticipated Culturama 49 Kaiso Season with preparation for its staging at the Cultural Village. The Culturama Festival is all set to stage with its 49th edition from July 27 to August 8, 2023. 

Nevis Culturama Festival, on its Facebook Page, shared glimpses of the event. It added, “Last night at the Cultural Village, the highly anticipated Culturama 49 Kaiso Season had a remarkable start.” 

Ten Kaisonians out of the twenty participating in the Culturama 49 TDC Senior Kaiso Contest held their first rehearsal with the All-Star Kaiso Band.

The rehearsal showcased a talented group of musicians from St Kitts and Nevis, who flawlessly blended social commentary and nation-building songs with their music. It was a delightful all-round performance.

• David Hanley – Tenor Saxophonist
• Aleks Ray Condell – Alto Saxophonist

• Dijorn Webbe – Lead Keyboardist and Rhythm Programmer
• Masefield Nisbett – 2nd Keyboardist (not present last evening)
• Kirk Richards – Drummer
• Deslyn Williams-Johnson – Back-Up Singer
• Devonne Cornelius – Back-Up Singer
• Denesia Smithen – Back-Up Singer
• Eliesel Ramirez – Back-Up Singer

The first Culturama 49 Senior Kaiso Tent, a special Father’s Day celebration, will be held on Sunday, June 18. “Be a part of this unique and memorable musical experience as we honour fathers and enjoy remarkable performances by an exceptional lineup of talented kaisonians, “A Facebook post of Nevis Culturama emphasised.  

Along with that, SIX (6) jouvert troupes have already registered for Culturama 49. Two of these troupes have already revealed their jouvert packages, and they can’t get enough of them. Earlier, the Nevis Tourism Authority (NTA) hosted a media launch for the upcoming Nevis Mango Festival, one of the fringe events for Culturama 49.
