Nevis: Concerned Citizens Movement led Nevis Island Administration conducted its second annual white goods clean up initiative in collaboration with CCM St Paul’s constituency group.
The official account of the Concerned Citizens Movement stated that it was a great community effort as the initiative would help to create a sustainable environment so that the impact of climate change could be contained.
It stated, “Today the CCM St. Paul’s constituency group conducted its 2nd annual white goods clean up initiative, another successful community effort.”
Over seven truck loads of bulk waste were collected and transported to the landfill in the white goods clean-up initiative.
The initiative would also assist the government in cleaning the areas sufficiently and helps to resolve the issue of drainage. The initiative would also help in efficient waste management and proper clean up of the bulk of the waste.
The clean white initiative has been initiated with the help of Nevis Solid Waste to accommodate the drive.
The CCM team expressed gratitude to the people, management and authorities for supporting the initiative and who assisted with the heavy loads of the waste.
“Loads of thanks to the Nevis Solid Waste for accommodating us on holiday, thanks to our two drivers who exhibited much patience with us throughout the day and thanks to all who assisted with the heavy lifting…..teamwork make the dream work,” underlined CCM.
CCM stated, “Deeply appreciated; let’s do it again Next year.”
Earlier, Premier Mark Brantley also joined Conch Festival, which was hosted by Jessups, Cotton Ground, and Barnes Ghaut Fisher’s Association.
At the festival, Premier Mark Brantley tasted varieties of dishes in the conch, which included conch roti conch fritters, conch balls, grilled conchs to conch kebabs.
He stated that they also had conch cook up and stewed conchs, but I couldn’t handle anything more. Enjoyed it all with some soursop juice and still found time to play some dominoes.
