Guyana: The Government of Guyana has handed over books to the National Library on the history of Mexico in collaboration with the Government of Mexico on Friday, March 11, 2022. Further, the aim of the donation of the books is to pay tribute to the 200th Mexico of Independence anniversary.
All the books were written in commemoration of the 200th Independence Anniversary from Spain.
While highlighting the importance of books in people’s lives, the Learning Resources Officer within the Ministry of Education, Myra Pierre-Morre, in the brief remarks, stated that the Ministry of Education wholeheartedly welcomes the new addition of the books related to the history of Mexico to the National Library of Mexico.
She emphasized that the gestures have been made to uplift the vision of the Ministry, which helps to provide quality education among the people of the country. It will also aid the government to eliminate illiteracy in the country by promoting the importance of education.
Outlining the benefits and advantages of the donations of the books, Pierre-Moore explained that “the National Library has been given a boost in meeting its mandate in providing access to quality resources and promoting a culture of reading.”
Moreover, the Chief Librarian of the National Library, Emily King, also expressed gratitude to the Mexican embassy for the generous donation.
She underscored that the donation of the books would help the national library to enhance the level of education among the people. Moreover, the books on Mexican history will also aid them to profess the knowledge of the culture of Mexico to the people of Spain, and they will also understand the Mexican culture with an introduction to Spanish.
Moreover, it will also help to create a welcoming environment at the library for the person who is from Spain or whose origin is Spanish.
The books were handed over to the National Library by Charge d’ Affaires of the Mexican Embassy, Antonio Cruz Diaz.
Ambassador Forbes July, Director of International Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the Mexican Embassy and staff of the National Library were also present at the simple hand over ceremony.
