Najah Georges: She is 6th grader at the Thibaud Primary School on the island of Dominica. As a predominantly Catholic country, Carnival (similar to Mardi Gras in New Orleans) is a major season in Dominica. There is a Carnival Queen pageant, as well as a separate Carnival Princess competition. Eleven-year-old Najah is the first Thibaud Primary student to make it to the finals (to my knowledge).

She is very smart and a real sweetheart, so supporters wanted to do all they can to help her (and our little isolated village) to win this nationwide event.

Sponsors and her school also supported her extended gratitude to the. They cited,”A week or so ago, I asked my friends to go to the Princess Show page and vote for Najah, and you helped her to post the highest number of “likes” for that part of the official competition. Thank you very much for those who gave her a like! That little contest will be part of the overall scoring for the final decision at the Carnival Princess Show in the capital of Roseau on Sunday, February 5.”

They are now running a new and separate competition during the final week. From this morning until Saturday night at midnight, Facebook users from anywhere can vote for the “People’s Choice Award” based on the number of likes the candidate receives.
