MP Andrew Gwynne set to serve as Shadow Minister of State for Social Care 

Andrew Gwynne- Member of Parliament for Denton and Reddish, has been appointed as the "Shadow Minister for Social Care in the Department of Health and Social Care" on Wednesday.

Andrew Gwynne– Member of Parliament for Denton and Reddish, has been appointed as the “Shadow Minister for Social Care in the Department of Health and Social Care” on Wednesday.

The appointment has been made in the reshuffling of the Shadow Minister in Labour Health.

Gwynne has served as Labour’s Shadow Public Health Minister since December 2021. He has now been promoted to the Minister of State of Social Care. He said that he is “delighted” to be appointed to the position.

While sharing his happiness, Andrew Gwynne took to Twitter and said he is “delighted to have been asked to serve as the Shadow Minister of State for Social Care in Labour Health.”

His tweet further reads Labour will reform social care and work tirelessly to improve the quality and standards of care for everyone who uses it. Gwynne reiterated his commitment and said that he will work hard on health inequalities, tobacco control, obesity and issues affecting clinically vulnerable and clinically extremely vulnerable patients.

On the appointment of his colleague Preet Kaur Gill as the Shadow Minister of the primary care and public health services, he said that he has no doubt that she will do an exceptional job in her new role.

Notably, Andrew Gwyne has also served as a former local councillor, shadow local government secretary and shadow public health minister.

On the appointment of Gwynne, people on social media expressed pleasure and welcomed his appointment. One of the associations named Alzheimer’s Society Campaigns- who raises awareness about Alzheimer’s and dementia in the United Kingdom said that a big welcome Gwynne as he steps into his new role as Shadow Minister for Social Care.

The association expressed eager to continue working with the MP to ensure everyone living with dementia gets the high-quality, personalised care they need and deserve.

Another user of Twitter named Vic Rayner said,” Glad to hear that Gwynne MP taking up this vital role of Shadow Minister for social care. NCFC Care Forum, which represents not for profit care providers looks forward to working with you.”

Another organization named Community Care also expressed pleasure and said that the appointment is quite accurate as his background is relevant to the position.

Besides the public, Labour MP for Illford North who is Shadow Health and Social Care Secretary also extended greetings to Gwynne on his appointment. He said,” Andrew Gwynne is our new Shadow Minister for Social Care. He will be my deputy leading on social care reform.”
