St Vincent and the Grenadines: Montserrat Caribbean island Government decided to provide assistance of emergency relief essentials to the residents of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines who are affected by the ongoing effusive eruptions from La Soufrière Volcano.

Twelve pallets of relief essentials from the Montserrat island’s emergency stockpile containing-140 helmets,7,200- N95 masks, 400 blankets, 200 cots, water pump and accessories, eight folding tables and push brooms, would be shipped on Thursday, April 29, 2021 to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The donation of relief supplies is assisted by the National Emergency ‘stockpile’ that is managed by the Disaster Management Coordination Agency – (DMCA), which is intended to meet the basic needs of the residents staying in the Emergency Shelters, overseen by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The relief essentials would be collected by the vessel MV Promise Kept on Thursday and is expected to arrive in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines the following day, on Friday April 30, 2021.

This shipment of the supplies follows the Government of Montserrat’s April 12 announcement- which stated that Montserrat would donate humanitarian supplies, contribute one hundred and fifty thousand Eastern Caribbean dollars (XCD$150,000.00), and would establish a local team to provide help to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Through the Office of the Premier- the Government of Montserrat Island continues to maintain communication with the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the other regional associations regarding the support for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The DMCA noted that the deployment of the emergency relief essentials to the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will not be compromising its ongoing preparation for the upcoming 2021-Atlantic Hurricane Season which will officially begin on June 1, 2021.

Various other neighbouring countries and islands have stood with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in this tough time and have provided assistance to the Island.
