Montserrat: The Programme Management Office of Montserrat welcome Mary Miller-Sallah, MHA, to the organization.

The office outlined the profile of Mary Miller Sallah:

Mary joined the team as Project Manager for Health Service Transformation in July 2022 to support a broad portfolio of healthcare improvement initiatives. These include enhancing quality of care, improving patient experience, clinical service definition, workforce strategy and capacity development, healthcare technology development, health finance reform, and opportunities within healthcare integration and optimization.

Mary has more than 15 years of experience in the Caribbean and U.S. Healthcare Management sector. Having worked as a management executive and technical lead with various public and private entities in the Caribbean region, she has extensive knowledge in operations, capacity development, quality, patient safety, cultural transformation and strategic health system planning.

Martin Parlett, Head of PMO, said, “We are truly excited about this appointment. The Health Service Transformation role is absolutely critical to supporting the Montserrat Ministry of Health and Social Services’ overall commitment to improvement and modernization. Importantly, this role will work in total lockstep with the development of the new national hospital so that the physical infrastructure is informed by, and helps to realize, operational and service improvements.

When asked about this new opportunity, Mary said, “I am very excited to be part of the transformation journey the Government of Montserrat has started. Referencing many lessons learned from other Caribbean markets, including Antigua & Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands and St. Kitts and Nevis, I foresee those lessons learned being of benefit to the teams supporting the Ministry of Health and Social Services and Ministry of Finance within the Government of Montserrat. Any health infrastructure and service transformation initiative comes with unique endurance requirements in the Caribbean region – what I have met and whom I have met provides me much confidence Montserrat has a very bright future ahead across its healthcare sector. I look forward to working with the healthcare and business professionals living in Montserrat and those working with the Government in Montserrat.”

Mary has a strong commitment to cross-cultural and cross-geographical businesses within and across developing markets globally. Before her appointment within the Government of Montserrat, Mary founded Assurance Limited; Assurance Limited, a privately-held consumer product and business intelligence company that provides market navigation and outsourced staffing solutions for the health and tourism sectors across the Caribbean region. Mary also co-founded Little Palms Foundation, a U.S. 501c3 non-profit organization that fosters educational capacity building and access to healthcare services when need or service unavailability may exist across the Caribbean and West African regions.

Miller Sallah holds a Master of Health Administration (MHA) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health, a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and certifications in Lean Six Sigma from Villanova University.
