Montserrat outlines profile of youth in sports recognition
Montserrat: Vashirn Roache has been a part of the Montserrat Football Association Inc. development program from a young age. He has represented Montserrat on the regional and international stage at numerous tournaments.
Vashirn is very dedicated to the sport of football. During the COVID- 19 pandemic all football training was stopped. Vashirn took it upon himself to continue training; he even managed to convince other players to join him. With this initiative his fitness level was up and his technique was sharp.
His name was submitted to attend the 3rd annual CAF player identification combine in Antigua where he was offered a place at Harptury College Academy in the United Kingdom where he will pursue a two year BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Exercise and Sport Science.
Vashirn has always shown leadership qualities; he was appointed captain for the Under 15 squad that traveled to Miami even though the match ended in a loss Vashirn ensured that his teammate shook the hands of their opponent he represented good sportsmanship.
He is a very focused, hardworking and driven individual while dedicating his time to football he has not neglected his studies this is evident after he received 8 grade ones at the 2021 Examination Council (CXC).
The Department of Community, Youth & Sports Services and the Montserrat Football Association Inc. wishes Vashirn Roache all the best in his future endeavors.
Kymani Nelson was first called up for national duty as a goalkeeper in August 2018 to participate in the Caribbean Football Union Boy’s Under -14 challenge series held in St. Kitts. Since then, Kymani has participated in various tournaments to include the Concacaf under 15 held in Miami in 2019 and the Concacaf U20 Men’s Championship Qualifiers held in Nicaragua in 2020.
Kymani is one of the most disciplined and dedicated young players on the team. His drive and persistence lead him to secure a spot on the Men’s senior team in 2021 as a substitute goalkeeper. He has proven to be a huge asset to his team as he is always vocal during training sessions and on match day. Although he is the youngest on the Men’s senior team Kymani has earned the respect of his teammates.
In 2022 he became the youngest starting goalkeeper to represent the Montserrat National Team internationally when he was called up as the starting goalkeeper for the Concacaf Nations League 2022 tournament. Kymani represented well and was commended for his commitment and growth since 2018.
Kymani Nelson represents the best ideals of the Montserrat Football Association where we seek to develop disciplined young men and women on and off the field.
The Department of Community, Youth & Sports Services and the Montserrat Football Association Inc. wishes Kymani Nelson all the best in his future endeavors.
