Europe: Stéphane Bijoux- a Member of the European Parliament, pledged to support sugar cane growers and encourage excellence in the agriculture sector. In Reunion with Commissioner Elisa Ferreira EC, they reaffirm their commitment to a Europe that accompanies the agricultural world.
Elisa Ferreira EC- European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reform, also expressed pleasure and stated that she is impressed by the sugar industry in Reunion – which benefits from the support of the EU – and by the attention given to research and the need to add value to production. “It is also a very good example of a circular economy where everything is used, nothing is wasted,” she added.

Elisa Ferreira EC also visited the Plant Protection Center of CIRAD. She said that a world-class research centre on plant resilience, epidemics, and food security is supported by the European Union in the Indian Ocean – encompassing La Réunion, Madagascar, Seychelles, Mauritius, and Comoros.
She also visited the Roland Garros airport construction site in Reunion. “I am proud that the Policy of Cohésion is funding the world’s first bioclimatic airport, thanks to a strategy fully integrating renewable energies – an inspiration for other great projects,” she added.
MEP Stéphane Bijoux added that Gérald Darmanin was right to denounce the incompetence and impotence of the European far right in the face of illegal immigration. “We knew that their approach was neither fair nor humane: today we see that it is also ineffective,” he added.
