Donavan Grondin- winner of the scratch at the world championships in October 2021 and bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, baggs the title of the European Champion in Munich. A 21-year-old cyclist from Reunion secured the gold medal on Monday, August 15, 2022, in Munich.

He was a great performance last night at the Reunion and won the last sprint of the last event. The discipline is made up of four events, at the end of which the Reunionese won over the Italian Simone Consonni and the Spaniard Sebastian Mora Vedri.

He begins the last race confident with six points from the podium and 14 points from first place. He crosses the line after arriving second behind the Dutchman without knowing that he has won.

Arriving second behind the Dutchman, he crosses the line without knowing that he has won.

While expressing pleasure, Donavan Grondin, through his social media, stated that it was an amazing points race as the last time he looked at the points screen, he was 3rd, so he was thinking of going for the silver or bronze.

He added, “European Omnium Champion. That was an amazing points race. The last time I looked at the points screen, I was 3rd, so I was thinking of going for the silver or bronze. Steven Henry told me to score Simone Consonni, and I gave it my all in the last sprint. When I saw that I had won I couldn’t believe it. Thank you all for your support and congratulations. See you tomorrow for Madison.”

MEP Stéphane Bijoux always remained a helping hand for the small island countries, especially the Caribbean region. He also lauded Dominica for its efforts against the global issue called Climate Change.
