
Europe: Elena Kountoura- Member of the European Parliament (MEP), announced that the EU is proceeding with the adoption of the Directive Women on Boards. She stated that it is an essential step to put an end to the under-representation of women.
She noted, “The EU is proceeding with the adoption of the Directive Women On Boards: an essential step to put an end to the under-representation of women on the boards of directors of large European companies.”
Elena Kountoura mentioned that they reached a historic agreement – more women on company boards mean greater benefits for the economy and society.
MEP Kountoura attended a special ceremony in Strasbourg where MEPs celebrated 70 years since the creation of the European Parliament: 70 years, the voice of citizens and democratic values.
She also met with EK President Roberta Metsola at the celebration in Strasbourg of the 70th anniversary of the European Parliament.
“When the EU operates entirely democratically, i.e. with the active participation of the European Parliament, unified solutions are achieved for the benefit of citizens’ lives and daily routines, “said the MEP.
Elena Kountoura noted that in this economic and humanitarian vortex Europe has entered since the beginning of the pandemic to date, one of the career questions repeatedly asked by citizens is how the European Union is ultimately working in their interest and how does he meet their needs.
When the EU functions entirely democratically, that is, with the active participation of the European Parliament, uniform solutions are achieved for the benefit of the lives and everyday lives of citizens.
She also met with the journalists of the Greek mission to Strasbourg, we discussed in the context of the Plenary all the critical and topical issues in my areas of responsibility at the European Parliament.
