
Europe: Member of European Parliament- Elena Kountoura presented her intervention in the EP Plenary on violence against women. She stated that one in three women would experience physical abuse at some point in her life.
She asked people to break their silence on the violence against women. MEP Kountoura cited, “We are Breaking the Silence! We say NO to Violence.”
The Commission’s directive to address gender-based violence must be holistic and ambitious. She presented her intervention in the EP Plenary on violence against women.
MEP Kountoura stated that the patriarchal standards and stereotypes that still dominate Europe today must be eliminated.

During her intervention at the Plenary of the EC on the debate on violence against women, MEP Elena Kountoura mentioned, “Patriarchalical patterns and stereotypes that prevail even today in Europe must be eradicated. The Commission’s directive on dealing with domestic violence must be holistic and ambitious. ”

Kountoura was a guest speaker at Circle the Med Forum 2022, where she mentioned the European strategy for sustainable tourism and the special challenges and needs facing the Mediterranean.
She also met with the m Bulgarian Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova, with whom, in her tenure as Minister of Tourism of Greece, they worked excellently launching programs of transstate tourism cooperation, with mutual benefits for our countries.
