Europe: Member of European Parliament- Elena Kountoura presented her intervention at the Plenary of the European Parliament. In the intervention, she talked about the energy crisis.
She stated that Precuracy brutally affects businesses, households and employees, and the energy crisis works to the benefit of the overseers, not the consumers.
MEP Kountoura also urged the members to implement a European collective and solidarity plan to address the energy crisis based on at least five basic institutional interventions.
Furthermore, it is Elena Kountoura’s position that the EU should immediately promote the prosumers model through the operation of energy communities to tackle energy poverty and achieve the EU’s climate goals, but also to establish a maximum 5% profit margin on energy production to prevent further excess profits at the expense of consumers.
“For a year now, precision has been brutally affecting all businesses, households and workers, and the European Union is moving awkwardly, without a collective plan, still debating what measures it should take to deal with this crisis, “said the MEP.
She added that for a year now we have been calling for institutional interventions to correct the outdated, distorted model of the European energy market which, as this crisis has dramatically demonstrated, does not work for the benefit of consumers, households and businesses, but for the benefit of super profits.
MEP Kountoura stated that there was a open online discussion on raising energy prices, the constant deterioration of citizens’ purchasing power and other news issues, with Elena Koundoura and Petros Kokkalis.
“SYRIZA Eurogroup – Progressive Alliance organizes event – discussion on rising energy prices and the constant deterioration of the purchasing power of citizens in Greece and Europe, but also on all hot topics in the news let them concern citizens and society, “Kountoura added.
The intervention held on Wednesday, October 19 at 7.30 pm Greek time, live broadcast via Facebook and YouTube with the presence of Elena Koundoura and Peter Kokkalis.
