MEP Elena Kountoura presents intervention at FEMM committee during gender equality week

Member of European Parliament- Elena Koutoura presented her intervention at the FEMM committee and spoke about the rights of women during discussions taking place in the context of the European Parliament's gender equality week.

Europe: Member of European Parliament- Elena Kountoura presented her intervention at the FEMM committee and spoke about the rights of women during discussions taking place in the context of the European Parliament’s gender equality week. 

During the intervention, she noted, “We are not the same, but we are equal and we need to deconstruct the patriarchal mentality that wants boy dominant and girl submissive, wants man superior and woman inferior to man or his property.”

Men’s violence against women often has its roots in childhood. This is why as an EU we must aim to fight discrimination, bullying and domestic violence in schools.”

MEP Kountoura further added that it is critical, within schools, which is a core of knowledge and interaction, that children assimilate the principles of equality and human rights, with appropriate information and treatment on gender standards, the dynamic force in children shit, consent, respect at boundaries and especially, in regards to personal contacts, respect to NO.

Further, Elena Kountoura also presented her intervention at TRAN, which was held at Blockchain and Crypto. 

She added that SMEs in tourism need special support to remain competitive in the changes brought about by the penetration of new digital technologies in tourism in the EU. My intervention at #TRAN #Blockchain #Crypto.  

MEP Elena Kountoura was also speaker at the opening of the Mediterranean Mobility Forum, final Conference of the Urban Transport Community – Interreg MED.

She presented the priorities for sustainable urban mobility and strengthening road safety to the European Parliament.

Further, she also met with cooperation in the European Parliament with An. Mayor of Island Policy, Member of Chios of SYRIZA-PS Andrea Michailides, for the coordination of actions within the scope of our responsibilities.

MEP Elena Kountoura also conducted a meeting with SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance MP Christos Spirtzis, on his official visit to the European Parliament in Brussels.
