MEP Elena Kountoura extends support to ETUC, asks for fulfilment of their fair demands

Member of the European Parliament- Elena Kountoura participated in the mobilization of the European Confederation of Trade Unions (ETUC) to extend support for their demands.

Europe: Member of the European Parliament- Elena Kountoura participated in the mobilization of the European Confederation of Trade Unions (ETUC) to extend support for their demands. 

Through her social media, she showed her full support for the demands of the Union and stated that it should be fulfilled as soon as possible. 

The European Confederation of Trade Unions demanded the increment in their wages, ceilings on energy prices, consideration of energy as a social good, protection of the labour and implementation of the labour laws. The members of the trade Union also demanded social dialogue with the authorities. 

MEP Elena Kountoura took to social media and wrote: 

“I participated in the mobilization of the European Confederation of Trade Unions ΕTUC supporting their fair demands for wage increases, ceilings on energy prices, recognition of energy as a social good, labour protection, and social dialogue.” 

She also informed that the Union also received support from various progressive forces of the European Parliament. 

She noted, “Great support from the progressive forces of the EP with the presence of Evelyn Regner, Vice-President of the EP, Karima Delli, president of TRAN, Manon Aubry, co-president of Left in the European Parliament and Leila Chaibi, head of the France Insoumise delegation.”

The Left in the European Parliament also tweeted that the energy crisis brings workers and families to their knees while big companies fill their pockets. They need a windfall profit tax. Today they asked European Parliament to support it, but for EPP Group, Ecco Group and ID Group for European Parliament, families must pay for the crisis, not greedy multinationals.

MEP Elena Kountoura always raised her voice against injustice. Earlier, she talked about the amendments of the SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance MEP Elena Koundoura, coordinator of LEFT at the TRAN Committee, were approved in the opinion of TRAN voted in a special meeting in Strasbourg and related, among other things, to the need for a transport and tourism sectors are adequately supported in Member States’ national recovery and resilience plans with corresponding support from European financial programs.
