MEP Elena Kountoura stated that itwas with great pleasure to attend and speak at the pie-cutting event of OM SYRIZA-PS Paiania-Glykos Nero, with the MPs Nasso Athanasiou, Pano Skouroliakos, Christos Spirtzis and Panagiotis Kouroublis and the candidates on the SYRIZA -PS ballot in Eastern Attica. An evening with strong messages about the need for political change, focusing on justice and people.
She participated in the successful political event “Justice in Security – Work-Economy” co-organized by the SYRIZA-PS of Spata and Artemida and the SYRIZZA-PS Prefectural Committee of Eastern Attica, with the excellent positions of Christos Spirtzis, Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou and Tryfonas Alexiadis.
Elena Kountoura stated that the resolution “Development of the EU Strategy for Cycling”, co-formulated by SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance Elena Kountoura, as coordinator of the Left political group in the TRAN Transport and Tourism Committee, was over-voted at the European Parliament’s Plenary Session.
The resolution recognizes the numerous and important benefits that enhanced use of bicycles can bring to our daily lives, given that transportation is a major source of air pollution and noise pollution and traffic congestion.
During her intervention at the Plenary of the European Parliament in the discussion on “Development of the EU Cycling Strategy”, MEP Elena Kountoura added, “Cities should invest in adequate infrastructure and revise spatial design so that citizens can switch to bicycle, conventional or electric, and move safely and easily on the urban web.”
She asserted that SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance MEP Elena Kountoura highlighted the dramatic delay in the EU ratification of the Istanbul Convention in the face of the victims of domestic violence, in her speech in a discussion at the Plenary of the European Parliament, ahead of a relevant resolution.
