Elena Kountoura- Member of the European Parliament addressed the start of the EU Road Safety Results Commission session, on the road safety situation in the EU in 2022, as a guide to the European Parliament resolution report on the EU policy framework on road safety to 2030.

Europe: Elena Kountoura- Member of the European Parliament addressed the start of the EU Road Safety Results Commission session, on the road safety situation in the EU in 2022, as a guide to the European Parliament resolution report on the EU policy framework on road safety to 2030.

She also attended the event “Raising Citizen’s Awareness on the Importance of Culture in Europe” by my colleague Alexis Georgoulis at the European Parliament on information and awareness of the citizens of the importance of culture mental health, Democracy, economy, politics, digital transition, sustainable development, education and society at European level. 

Outlining the priorities, Elena Kountoura stressed that priorities set:reducing the speed limit to 30km in cities, strengthening controls,law enforcement and justice for traffic collision victims, emphasis on education to change road mentality and stressed what it takes political will and adequate funding for safe infrastructure, safe roads and safe vehicles, as well as public transport should be strengthened to reduce the use of cars.

“By law in 2018 in my tenure as Minister. Tourism, we established the first in Greece institutional framework for thematic tourism and laid the foundations for sustainable development, which is currently a national and European priority in the tourism industry. To meet the demands of the digital age, Greek tourism must be supported directly and horizontally small and medium-sized tourism enterprises and employees with adequate financial tools for investment and training, “said the MEP. 

She was also the guest speaker at the 4th Conference “Greek Tourism a National Affair! Abilities and Perspectives”

At the European Parliament, Elena Kountoura met with World Travel and Tourism Council President and CEO Julia Simpson and Vice President Virginia Messina. 

She met with journalist Katia Makri, coordinator at the panel of the Next is Now conference, where I participated as a guest speaker. They had a great discussion about the challenges and opportunities in Greek tourism.

MEP Elena Kountoura was a guest speaker at the 4th Conference “Greek Tourism a National Affair! Abilities and Perspectives”. They will discuss new forms of tourism and the digital era for the tourism industry.

“We discussed the success of the WTTC Summit in Riyadh, where I participated as an invited speaker, the global actions for sustainability in tourism and the role of the STGC Center as well as new plans and initiatives of the #WTTC in SE Europe, “said the MEP. 

At the Health Tourism Industry #ΗTI Summit event, invited by MEP István Ujhelyi, she spoke about the development of health tourism in Europe, transferring her experience and work in Greece from her tenure as Minister of Tourism.

MEP Elena Kountoura also met with the representatives of the European Transport Workers’ Federation #ETF We discussed the strengthening and greater protection of the rights of bus and coach drivers and the upcoming revision of the Community Directive on driving licences.
