Mehul Choksi case has turned into a tv soap opera without suggesting any realistic approach. His abduction story has been questioned by the local authorities due to the lack of proper evidence.

According to Mehul Choksi, the reason behind his disappearance in 2021 was his kidnapping. He said that he was forcefully taken to another island and beaten. However, actual evidence contradicts his narratives.

Firstly, there is a need to oversee the working of the judicial circle where police officials investigate, examine and arrest the suspect. After that, the individual is presented to the court, where Prosecutors either ask for an extension of remand or just lay the case to rest.

Further, these cases include the role of the Prosecutor, who they may ask for a continuance to further investigate any other aspects. As per the investigation, the cases which hold a 50 percent chance of conviction can develop such a scenario.

The system of Antigua and Barbuda stated that the ‘Crown Prosecutor’ (the term is used in the UK and Commonwealth countries to describe the public Prosecutor who represents the Crown) would want to move further with a case if there is a probability for more evidence or has confidence in the partially available evidence.

However, Mehul Choksi’s case does not consist of such aspects. It is due to the fact that even after several investigations and examinations, they have nothing to prove his claims.

The investigation got nothing to prove the narrative of Choksi that he was ever abducted or forcefully taken from Jolly Harbour on Sunday, May 223, 2021. In the name of the evidence, only his statement states the narrative.

On top of that, there are several facts and evidence in the public domain stating that he “absconded” rather than being “abducted”. Police also showcased a piece of paper consisting of the statement given by Mehul Choksi as evidence.

Despite this, there is nothing as evidence rather than accusing several people who were not even spotted in the near vicinity. The hotel bookings of some tourists cannot be considered a piece of solid evidence to build a case.

In the scenario of limited evidence, the Crown Prosecutor fears moving further with the case because the Judge will throw the case out for “lack of evidence”.

However, the entire scenario has empowered the critics’ belief that he pushes his story to “delay extradition”. In a bid to delay the extradition process to India, Mehul Choksi intentionally exaggerated the case.

As per the critics, there is nothing in the evidence which could prove his story, but the significant stretch in his case might leverage him enough time to escape extradition to face justice back in India, where he is wanted for bank fraud.

Indian-based WION also reported that he also had approached the court to withdraw his extradition case, and he should not be extradited to India. As per the reports, he also presented several reasons for the withdrawal of the case, which have yet to be disclosed in detail.

Mehul Choksi has been fighting two cases in Antigua and Barbuda, one concerning his citizenship and the other involving India’s plea for his extradition for a criminal trial.

On top of that, Mehul Choksi presented an affidavit to the High Court, claiming a startling episode from May 2021. As per the reports, Choksi has been using the human rights approach; life threats excuse escaping a fraud of a lifetime.

He used the human rights violations aspect and submitted an affidavit in court. The man who himself is responsible for the outcry of thousands of people who lost their jobs, homes and business just because he absconded from India in 2017 is now asking for justice on the grounds of human rights violations.

The owner, “Geetanjali Jewellers”- Mehul Choksi, ran away from the country after looting all the money. It has led to closing everything and leaving thousands of people struggling, while some also committed suicide.

As per the report by Live Mint, Mehul Choksi’s abduction case investigating officer Adonis Henry also took bribes from Choksi to align the police report with his statements related to the abduction story.

Choksi has not only reached out to Inspector Henry but also made attempts to bribe the judicial system of Antigua and Barbuda, raising eyebrows that he would make another attempt to influence Crown Prosecutor to further pursue the case.
