Meet the new Chief Executive Officer of GTA

Petra Roach is now the new chief executive officer for the Grenada Tourism Authority- (GTA). This came after the announcement that Petra would leave Barbados Tourism Marketing- BTMI.

Grenada: Petra Roach is now the new chief executive officer for the Grenada Tourism Authority- (GTA). This came after the announcement that Petra would leave Barbados Tourism Marketing- BTMI.

From the last 27 years, Petra Roach had been working with- BTMI where she held various positions. She had also been the vice-president of – marketing and sales for the UK, director of sales and marketing for the United States.

She has also been the Global Head of the markets and interim- CEO. Petron had successfully promoted the Barbados brand to its heights and has also been instrumental in the Barbados- increase in airlift, the GTA said in its announcement, adding her in-depth knowledge of both marketing and the tourism industry will be a welcomed skillset to her new role.

GTA- board of directors stated that “It acknowledged the significance of international marketing expertise and effective relationships and contacts within the tourism and the airline industries, as a necessity for the role of- CEO. 

 Roach will now lead the destination through its COVID-19 pandemic recovery process, placing emphasis on the innovative and competitive marketing campaigns. The Grenada Tourism Activity called this as an exciting and game-changing time for the Tourism industry of Grenada.

On the appointing of Petra, GTA chairman- Batty Collymore stated that “Petra is an acknowledged leader of the tourism sector, and we are excited that she has agreed to take on the challenge the GTA has exhibited her.”

He further cited that “As we see the urgent need to have someone who would not only understand the Caribbean marketplace but with the skillset to help lead our unique destination through recovery and start a new chapter for our tourism industry, This is a huge win for Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.”

On this Roach added, “I feel honoured to lead the team as GTA’s new CEO and be tasked to push forward GTA’s success during these challenging pandemic time, but equally exciting times. I am also looking forward to work with all of the industry stakeholders, as we collectively chart a dynamic upward course for the destination.”
