Math teacher Leslie Stewart, charged with Child Pornography

Hillsborough Secondary School Math teacher Leslie Stewart is due to make his first court appearance on Friday at the St George’s Magistrate Court after he was charged for indecent and inappropriate behaviour to a minor.

Grenada: Hillsborough Secondary School Math teacher Leslie Stewart is due to make his first court appearance on Friday at the St George’s Magistrate Court after he was charged for indecent and inappropriate behaviour to a minor.

Stewart (54) of the community of L’Esterre, Carriacou has been slapped with one count of Child Pornography, cultivating an online relationship with a minor.

He is scheduled to be taken to the mainland on Friday morning.
Reports are that Stewart, who was suspended from the school’s compound sometime earlier this year, was engaged in requesting sex from the student during his after school assignments.

The long list of Whatsapp messages spans between May 6th, 2020 and February 14th (Valentine Day), 2021.

The incident came to the surface after the parents of the child took the information to an attorney-at-law who in turned sent the document to the Commissioner of Police’s desk who reportedly acted promptly by alerting the Northern Division in Carriacou, where officers of the Criminal Investigation Department launched a swift investigation into the matter.
Stewart was then interrogated for several hours, which resulted in his computer and mobile phone confiscation.

Reports are that he exhibited a demeanour of depression after he was charged.

However, there are reports that this may well be the start of similar investigations in the pipeline involving some teaching profession members.
