St Kitts and Nevis: Premier of Nevis and the leader of Concerned Citizens Movement Mark Brantley lambasted Prime Minister Timothy Harris for claiming that the Federal Government bears the cost of drugs and pharmaceuticals for Nevis.

He rebuked PM Harris and called that he showed the level of desperation in the man who covets the Prime Minister for life.

Prime Minister Timothy Harris held a press conference on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, and Premier Mark Brantley called that the Nation is treated to a Press Conference by the Kangaroo Cabinet on Wednesday.

Criticizing PM Harris, Brantley asserted that during the conference, in an attempt to yet again portray the people of Nevis as mendicants dependent on handouts from St Kitts in order to deny Nevisians their fair share of CBI monies, Dr Timothy Harris made the bold claim that the Federal Government bears the cost for drugs and pharmaceuticals for Nevis.

“That is a bald-faced LIE, and he knows it to be a lie but said it anyway. That is the level of desperation in the man who covets the Prime Minister for life,” he added.

Outlining the truth, leaders of CCM exclaimed that the truth is that drugs are ordered by St Kitts for the entire Federation as St Kitts is the focal point for orders from the OECS common stores.

He further emphasized that all drugs sent to Nevis are PAID FOR by the Nevis Island Administration. In fact, the Ministry of Health in Nevis has complained to the Ministry of Health in St Kitts that the invoices were not being sent in a timely manner to Nevis, and as a result, the NIA has since 2020 remitted to the Federal government $30,000 per month as payment for drugs and pharmaceuticals and reconciled when an actual bill is received.

“My people know that I don’t just talk. I ALWAYS bring receipts. So below is a sample of the bills sent from St Kitts to Nevis for payment in 2018 and in 2021. Over the period 2020/2021, the NIA paid to the Federal government some $720,000 to cover drugs and pharmaceuticals, and we continue to pay for all drugs and pharmaceuticals for the people of Nevis,” underlined Premier Brantley.

While stressing the need for an honest leader, the CCM leader stated that this is why the country needs honest leadership in Basseterre. They need a Prime Minister with integrity and character who understands that he is Prime Minister not for some but for all the people of the beloved Federation.

Mark Brantley said, “This is why we are asking you to vote for Real Unity PAM/CCM so that we can keep the Promise even as we Increase the Momentum.”
