Valletta, Malta: Malta, officially known as the Republic of Malta, is an island country in the European Union consisting of an archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea and is considered part of Southern Europe. It has witnessed a number of numerous changes over the course period of time. 

The country has flourished in every sector, especially in the health sector, under Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne. 

The Health Sector of Malta has significantly developed after improving the health of its population. The guidance of Chris Fearne has paved the path for Malta to emerge as an example for entire Europe and the world. 

The life expectancy of Malta reached a high of 82.6 years in 2016 (1), and on average, the people spend close to 90 percent of their lifespan in good health. The health system has achieved remarkable improvement in decreasing decreasing avoidable mortality and maintaining low levels of unmet needs. 

Besides this, the Maltese Health Minister also focused on the various challenges that could combat the growth in the sector and adopt various diverse and emerging populations, such as increasing the capacity to cope with a growing population and activity from hospitals to primary and redistributing resources and community care. 

Moreover, the ley health indicator of the health sector has improved considerably over the last decade as the country compares significantly against the other countries in Europe. 

Besides this, Chris Fearne has embarked on the development of a series of strategic proposals that would lead to a National Health Strategy Framework for the period 2020-2030. The programme will ensure efficiency to the rapid socio-demographic and technological changes and is also geared to address population health needs. 

Health Minister Chris Fearne’s several proposals will also be geared toward achieving the overarching objectives of Enhancing Equity, Implementing Innovation and Safeguarding Sustainability. 

Moreover, Malta is well on track and worked tirelessly to achieve health-related sustainable development goals. 

Besides this, Malta’s COVID-19 response efficiently combats the virus. The vaccine drive has significantly improved the situation as immunization of Maltese witnessed growth. 

Minister Fearne made every possible effort to encourage the people to get vaccinated, due to which Malta has become the country to have the lowest death rate in entire Europe, below 800 since the emergence of the pandemic.
